Beyond the Physical: Releasing The Ascension
After more than a month of deep, intensive immersion in the studio, I am releasing my latest completed painting, "The Ascension". Standing at an ambitious 52 by 60 inches, this piece represents a monumental milestone in my ongoing artistic journey - marking the 86th painting in my signature Soul Searcher series.
Every painting in the Soul Searcher series acts as a psychological and spiritual mirror, but The Ascension demanded a unique physical and emotional investment. Over the past month, the canvas evolved through layers of patient mark-making, spontaneous brushstrokes, and deliberate structural choices.
Working with a mixed medium of acrylic and charcoal on canvas allowed me to balance raw, graphic energy with fluid, luminous color. The charcoal provided the foundational grit-deep contours and organic patterns that anchor the work, while the acrylic layers introduced a vibrant frequency, pulling the eye upward across the vast 52x60-inch plane.
The Ascension is a vibrant exploration of spiritual transition, transcendence, and collective consciousness. The composition serves as a visual bridge between the physical and the metaphysical, portraying a dynamic movement where human figures, sacred symbols, and natural elements merge into an upward surge of radiant energy.
In this piece, I wanted to capture the weightlessness of release. The interwoven figures and indigenous-inspired motifs do not merely float; they propel upward, symbolizing the human spirit breaking past earthly limitations, societal illusions, and temporal confines to reach a higher plane of awareness.
Reaching completion on a piece of this scale is always a moment of profound reflection. Spending over a month with a single canvas means living inside its narrative; watching the colors shift, the forms tighten, and the underlying philosophy mature day by day. As number 86 in the Soul Searcher collection, this work pushes the boundaries of how I translate interior spiritual dialogue into visual storytelling.
The painting is finished and ready to find its space in the world.
